High school stars must impress early to stand out in the high-stake world of recruiting
St. Paul’s linebacker Tre Williams first heard from Florida State assistant coach Dameyune Craig last winter.
Fresh off a freshman season in which Williams led the Saints in tackles, Craig sat next to Williams’ mom during a basketball game and casually discussed Tre’s football future.
A few months later, Williams received a scholarship offer from Florida State. Offers from Auburn and Alabama followed this summer.
