VANCLEAVE TACKLING MACHINE COMMITS TO GOLDEN EAGLES

Considered a "sleeper" prospect, Southern Mississippi has gotten a commitment from linebacker Jerry McCorvey of Vancleave, who had a whopping 147 tackles during his junior year.  McCorvey has a strong mentor in fellow Vancleave Alum and former Mississippi State All SEC linebacker Chris White.  He has bloodlines working for him too as his cousin is former Florida State wide receiver Kez McCorvey, who starred for the great Seminole teams of the early 90's and was a teammate of Shane Matthews and Terrell Buckley at Pascagoula.

Here is more on McCorvey from The Sun Herald:

“I’m real excited about going to Southern Miss,” McCorvey said. “I love the coaching staff, players and atmosphere. I can’t wait to get there. Southern Miss was the only place for me.
Recruiting analysts believe that Southern Miss landed one of the state’s sleeper prospects in McCorvey, who has already qualified academically to play as a college freshman next year. He has a 3.3 GPA and scored 20 on the ACT.
